I have purchased a Toshiba Tecra 4000CDT. The laptop is very nicely preserved outside, haven't yet checked inside (will do soon to remove / remedy any potential CMOS battery leakage).

However, on booting the laptop, I found it has some graphics glitches, that appear mostly in DOS. Despite what the second image below suggests, the glitches can spread throughout the whole screen.

What could this be? Faulty Video Memory? Something else / ideas?

I have determined the cause of the graphics glitch to be faulty VRAM, bit 3 is stuck on many locations.

I will have to get a spare CPU module, because the video chip and video memory is on the CPU module. I don't think I can solve this by re-soldering/re-seating.
