Hello,
I recently installed a Creative Sound Blaster 32 PnP in my Pentium MMX build running Windows 98SE.

In DOS mode the card works well, I can see that the MIDI messages are correctly sent to my SC-55ST. My problem is that at boot the line-in is always muted, and I could not find the tool to unmute it. I have installed the drivers from the SB32 ISO found on archive.org (https://archive.org/details/sound-blaster-32- … r-1996-creative).

I also have tried some AWE32 drivers and toold. CTCM says the card is found and initialized.

Thanks for your help.

Even without watching a YouTube video, the intended way of getting Line-In unmuted by default is

  1. Ensure you run MIXERSET /Q (I hope I remember the switch correctly) from autoexec.bat. This will apply the saved mixer settings without user interaction. The Creative Labs installation program adds this line.
  2. Run MIXERSET in interactive mode and check the box for Line In in the "output" section. Also choose a sensible level for Line In. Then use the "save" button to save the current mixer settings as boot-up mixer settings.
