What is the connected memory pin for?

I needed to connect the A10 GPU line to the A10 contacts on the memory chips. I did this with thin 0.06 mm enameled wire, securing it to the board with UV-curable varnish.

Very nice work!
Will you try to overclock the card with the new memory?
I've found that despite the faster memory and the infinite possibilites due to the straps the overclock on my card was quite disappointing.

I'm a big believer in taking good care of your equipment. Too many devices have been ruined by overclocking enthusiasts. I repair graphics cards and hate to see the aftermath of overclocking.

Woah, very nice indeed! It will be interesting to see if there are any cases where this leads to a noticable uplift in performance.

I remember I did some brief tests, the performance difference was negligible, while it was noticeable from 4mb to 8mb. I suppose my tests are some pages back

Hello, I've got two Canopus TOTAL3D V1000 cards a long time ago and finaly decided to attach one to a dedicated PC.
It's an overclocked Cyrix MII on a FIC VA-502. This platform was famous for being very fast for its price, but not so much in 3D. I figured it was a nice platform to get the most out of the V1000, since it is less dependent on the CPU's 3D performance than most other cards of its era.

Since this thread focuses more on discussions about the second generation, I had trouble finding information.
- Can you recommend any games that make good use of this card? Apart from Tomb Raider.
- Has anyone managed to get overclocking to work reliably and keeping good compatibility with games with recent drivers?
Please, no comments on the act of overclocking itself. I know it's not rational, but getting the most out of vintage hardware is part of the fun for me.

Very cool! I picked up a Total3D several years ago. Interestingly, I also found a 3rd party 3D shutter glasses kit called Nuvision 3D Spex that seems to use the exact same glasses as the Total3D (as shown in these pictures). I haven't had a chance to test the card with the glasses, but it's on my to-do list. It seems like 3D Spex kits show up somewhat frequently online, and I think some are listed for sale on the usual auction site right now (in the US though).

EDIT: That link to a Japanese Yahoo Auctions listing is probably not going to stay up forever, so I have saved and attached the pictures to this post for posterity. I don't think the Total3D used this packaging in the US, but the rest of the kit is probably very similar and the Nuvision glasses are even shown in the box art.

I Repeat: These are not my pictures, I do not own this stuff... sadly. 😀

Thanks for this post!
It's nice to see what it was like back then. I also have the glasses, but I haven't bothered to try them yet. I tested the 3D audio features, it's reminiscent of the 3Dfx pass-through VGA cable, but for audio with jack cables.
But I didn't notice any difference and it had no impact on game performance, so I think something didn't work. I can't remember if I tried it with the included games or with other games, so I'll try it with the included games in case it only works with those.
