I find it a little odd that this update even exists. Mods and Admins on the OpenOffice forums have been advising users to adopt LibreOffice since it appeared that the OpenOffice project might be coming to an end. Glad to see the project is hanging on.

Well, I hope that not every developer shifts to LibreOffice, because LibreOffice has pretty high system requirements and barely runs on any system.

OpenOffice system requirements for version 4.1.x:

  • Windows XP
  • Windows 2003
  • Windows 2012
  • Windows Vista
  • Windows 7
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11

LibreOffice system requirements for version 25.8:

  • Windows 10
  • Windows 11

If it doesn't work, then the software is of no use even if someone claims that it works on his computer.

I would hate to see OpenOffice die off. Been using it for many years and really like it. Nothing wrong with Libre, I just prefer Open. 🙁
