two daily drivers..
Gateway laptop with i5-3337u 8GB /500GB ... had 16GB and a 240GB SSD sitting round for over a month, but stupidity with w10 MS account is putting me off transferring.
Toshiba A200 with mighty all powerful T7100 C2D, cringe before it's awesomality. Broke kb, desktop keeb sitting on it, Two whole GB, W7. Has some intel hyperboostoturbospeedinator 1GB buffer RAM/SSD thing which is why I guess 2GB stays near tolerable.

Other crap in the "modern use" category, which I fire up and use from time to time,
Lenovo X131e chromebook with the sandycrotch dualcore celeron. ... also have RAM and SSD for that I keep meaning to upgrade, and put some kind of "real OS" on
HP Mini netbook with Atom n270 lubuntu
Extremely crapped out HP pavillion laptop with burned up legacy HID support, needs USB card, external keyboard, TurionX2, workshop donkey running xubuntu.
"visiting" notebook, because of less crapped out look and having nothign too important on it, a Toshiba 15" with sandycrotch dual Pentium... B840 or something always forget. 8GB, w10, weirdly the one thing in the house that best qualifies for w11 upgrade due to TPM support.

Upcoming...
i7-4770 Thinkcenter in build up.
C2Q in planning/build
T-400 to take over from A200... not sure if it's cranky or software b0rked... anyhoo 2.4Ghz c2d and will get 8GB and SSD
Asus i7 4k series laptop under investigation, some flakeouts, mostly wifi related... may be fixed and built for use... kinda back burner things just waiting for exact right parts to eventually show up... maybe should push harder on this while it's still useful.

Unicorn herding operations are proceeding, but all the totes of hens teeth and barrels of rocking horse poop give them plenty of hiding spots.

I have the same exact case for my gaming desktop.

Granted, mine needs better cable management.

Reviving this one cos why not and it's been a while or so since my last post. Quite a bit has changed in terms of my current builds but this is currently what is sitting on the other corner of my working desk in the study (alongside my work rig M4 Max Mac Studio / Eizo CG319x)

AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D
Noctua NH-D15S + A15
Asus ROG Strix X870-I Gaming ITX
64GB G.Skill Trident Z5 DDR5-6000 cl30
Nvidia Geforce RTX 5090
Corsair SF1000 SFX
Streacom BC-1 ITX (waiting for an XProto-L v2, I do love me an open-air case)

Once I get this rig installed into the XProto and placed somewhere else on the desk, I'll switch this corner to the BC-1 ATX bench table and set up a dual socket system with either an MSI Pro266TD Master-LR dual Tualatin system and possibly an X1950XTX / 8800GTX or an eVGA SR-2 with dual Xeon X5690s and some kind of Crossfire X setup with however many of my HD5970s are actually still working.

Another conundrum is sourcing a PSU for the SR-2 build, especially if I try to get all 4 5970s working. Not even the Seasonic TX-1600 has enough 8/6-pins to support all 4 GPUs. Each 5970 requires a 6-pin and an 8-pin for a total of eight of each just for GPUs alone. The TX-1600 only has nine 8-pins and six 6-pins. Any recommendations are welcome seeing as the original SR-2 Classified 1200W PSUs are rarer than 5x86-133s these days.

I will be posting pics of whatever happens!

@mods, apologies if this breaks the rules, it's been a while.

I like how the rigs at the start of the thread can almost be considered retro now.

I have just one modern PC nowadays that I started building in 2018.

Mobo: ASRock X470 Master SLI/ac*
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X
Cooler: NZXT Kraken 360
GPU: ASUS Dual RTX 4070 Super EVO OC
RAM: 32GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro
PSU: Seasonic Focus 750W*
Storage: 4TB Samsung 990 Pro / 1TB Samsung 970 EVO Plus
Case: Phanteks Enthoo Pro (love this thing)*
Monitor: Alienware AW3423DW

* from the original build and are still going strong seven years later.

With how RAM prices are nowadays, plus AM6 somewhat on the horizon, I probably won't be upgrading anything soon.

SUN85: NEC PC-8801mkIIMR
SUN92: Northgate Elegance | 386DX-25 | Orchid Fahrenheit 1280 | SB 1.0

SUN00: ABIT BF6 | Pentium III 1.1GHz | 3dfx Voodoo3 3000 | AU8830

Finally added a decent GPU to it before prices go up. Planned to upgrade to AM5 or Intel LGA1851, but DDR5 prices already quadrupled here.
With a PCIe 3.0 mobo and a relatively weak CPU I could only achieve ~28K in Time Spy (9 times of my previous R9 380X), but I'm still happy for the results in games and video decoding.

Set to -15% GPU board power limit because it was unstable at full load with my small 650W non-ATX3.1 PSU.
Now it runs happily at 269 watts and performance penalty is minimal.

I'm getting some serious Temjin TJ07 vibes from this - still my favorite all time case, just prohibitively massive.

Yes, they do look very similar! Funnily, I've gotten comments on the size before. I guess large cases are out of fashion now but the airflow is impeccable.

Also why it's not exactly photogenic, it sits in the dark under my desk and in any photos it just looks like a big obsidian monolith.

My main computer is a GPD Win Max 2 2024.

- AMD Ryzen 7 8840U (8 cores that can boost up to 5.1GHz)
- 64GB LPDDR5X RAM
- AMD Radeon 780M
- integrated 16:10 2K display

This machine is an absolute beast and it fits into my jacket pocket.

When I want to game, I attach this little dock and an AMD RX7800XT with the OcuLink port. It can even route the signal through the internal HDMI ports. I don't know how that works, but it works well.

New to the site, first post.

I just finished an old build to run Windows 98 on.

Asus P2B-VT
Pentium 3 600mhz
Voodoo 3 3000 agp
Soundblaster 128

All in a jumbo Antec P182 case.

10 years ago I posted in this thread and reported that I was rocking an i5 760 and a GTX 960 based system. Now my setup is:

Ryzen 5 3600X
MSI X570-A PRO
16GB RAM
RTX 3060 Ti
Fractal North case
LG 27" 2K Ultragear monitor
Logitech wave keyboard
Logitech Z906 5.1 speakers
Logitech G9 mouse

All pretty mundane except for the G9 mouse, which I've had for ~15 years, and that Fractal case, which I have strong feelings for. The Ultragear monitor is a recent upgrade from a 1080P AOC. First I went with a 32" 2K AOC but it was just too damn big for a desk setup I thought, so I returned it and got the 27". So far so good - I really like the 1000R curve.
