Hi

Recently I wanted to give NT 4.0 a try on an upcoming K6-2 300MHz build instead of the usual 98.

The only ISO I could find was with SP1. Not a single image with SP6 slipstreamed (for polish version that is).
Reading about the directX support for NT 4.0, it looks like one can install DX5 and maybe even DX6 with a few tricks.

To verify if everything works I plan to put on the CD, I installed SP1 NT 4.0 with added boot menu (or whatever you call it) in a VM, then SP6a. Up to this point I didn't have any issues.
Then, I installed DX5 and that's where the problems rose. Even tho the setup completes just fine, DXdiag.exe doesn't report any DirectX version installed, and complained in "DirectX files" list that ddraw.dll, d3drm.dll, d3xof.dll, etc... are in an older version. Selecting just the runtime to install, I get that DirectX cannot be installed on NT. It must be installed on NT 4.0 or later.

Now, has anybody ever tried slipstreaming SP6a into the ISO so it comes preinstalled with NT? And did anybody here make DX5/6 work on NT 4.0?

You could make your own:

I used the instructions to make a custom i386 installation folder for a hard drive sourced setup.

Tried following this tutorial.
The sskit exe didn't change any files from my sp1 NT 4.0 ISO which I've extracted, even with the correct switches. So I do not know whether it actually worked or not. Maybe I did something wrong, gonna need to redo the process all over again.
