Hello,

I recently downloaded mTCP so that I could try connecting to BBSes with Telnet. I am using a ThinkPad 370C with FreeDOS 1.4.

I can connect to a BBS and navigate around it without any problems. However, if I stop providing input for about a minute, Telnet stops responding. By stop responding, I mean that I cannot write anything into the chat or command prompt of the BBS. I can still access the Telnet help menu (ALT+H). When this happens, I have to exit Telnet. When I try to log in to the BBS again, I receive the following message: 'You cannot log in to more than one node at a time.'

Does anyone know how to solve or debug this problem?

Thank you

Hi,

Read the mTCP PDF documentation - there is a section on debugging. Then recreate the problem with tracing enabled, and email the trace to me.

In addition to what mbbrutman said, this can also be a telltale that you have a NAT device in the path between your laptop and the BBS that aggressively breaks connections that look idle.
