So, I have motherboard ASUS VX97 on 430VX chipset with separate 8042 keyboard (HOLTEK) controller with masked ROM
I tried to replace it with standard P8042AH controller from 286 Headland HT12 motherboard
Motherboard starts but keyboard not working, all lights was on
Then I replaced it with BESTKEY controller from ATC-1020 and all works
I tried read with Willem programmer (3.0 and 5.0 versions) with MCS-48 board, but all data was NULL
So can I read masked ROM firmware ? Or what is the principle for replacing the controller?

Or where can I download some AMI/Phoenix/Award or other keyboard firmwares ?
Has anyone read the firmware of proprietary UPI-41/42 (AMYKEY, BESTKEYS e.t.c) ? Or it is not possible due to Security bit ? (in my case no data on output)

Sorry, I already found out that firmware UPI-41/42 cannot be programmable, because such IC like 8742 and 8741 not be able to get anymore 🙁((
