@dreamblaster:

Are there any updates in this project?
I really hope it will be pursued further.

I’ve been testing the MixerBay for a while now and just wanted to say: great job 👍
Build quality is solid and—most importantly—it works exactly as intended.

In my setup the mixer itself is completely noise-free (except for hum originating from the sound cards): no added noise, no distortion, even with multiple cards connected at the same time. The pots feel good and allow for fine, precise level control, and having everything neatly integrated into a 3.5″ bay is incredibly convenient for retro systems where space is limited.

It’s honestly one of those solutions you don’t realize you need until you have it—much cleaner and more practical than Y-cables or an external mixer cluttering the desk. Powering it from the floppy connector is also a nice, period-correct touch.

Below are a few photos of my setup showing it wired up:

Interconnect:

Front panel:

Here I have four sound cards connected:
Picomem, Tandy, Game Blaster, and Covox ISA

Thanks for sharing and developing this project—highly recommended for anyone running multiple audio sources in a retro PC!

One small suggestion for future revisions: using a flat ribbon cable for the internal wiring might help reduce cable clutter a bit and make installation even cleaner, especially in tightly packed cases.

Thanks for testing and sharing your experience with this awesome new product.
I hope it will be available soon for sale.
And I hope there will be a 5.25" front panel too.
With HxC Floppy emulator and WP32 McCake front panel I'm out of 3.5" slots.

I love you so much, this looks like what I need to simplify my setup. I will most likely get one. Curious about one thing, though: what is the intended scenario for the internal connection? Internal audio out header from soundcard to this mixer (which may not be necessarily available), or 3.5 cable that comes back into the case and connects to the front panel?

there are headers for internal connection, but the main method will be a short 3.5" cable that goes to the special bracket.

This is brilliant, can't wait for release. One question, if I may (for an eventual 5.25 version): would it be possible to leave enough empty space on the bezel (say, 1.5 - 2cm) to be able to label the inputs? Or do you have something exciting planned for the extra room? 😃

A programmable oled display besides each volume control . That sounds insane 😉

Right to repair is fundamental. You own it, you're allowed to fix it.

And when exactly are you planning to take our money with this wonderful new product? 😃

And since we're on the topic of ideas, maybe a switchable filter for common noise frequency ranges on these boards? Granted, there's only so much that can be done.

Digital volume control and a full 5"1/4 sized oled/eink touch display ! Oooh baby ! 😉

Hah, I was thinking something simpler: a three way, clacky switch next to the inputs, like you'd find on a hi-fi deck, that chooses between three cut-offs (or "EQ presets", if you will). But it's all up to Mr. Serge here, and I can't wait to see what he's cooking 😃

A LED segment level meter (stereo) on the front panel would be super cool!

Have you considered a standalone version? A bay-sized 3d printed enclosure with a hinged top and a rubber cable grommet at the back?

I'm seeing this as a step along the way to the product I keep hoping you'll make - a single box that contains a USB Audio Class device, a port for a synth (a wavetable header, an internal USB port for the X2GS-USB, or just sell me another X2GS integrated right onto the PCB), and finally mixes them down to a single line out. The ultimate audio device for a MiSTer.

I've got one of those, but haven't had a chance to play with it yet. It doesn't look like it takes in the non-MIDI game audio, though... I'd still need some other audio device to do that, and then mix the two together. That's what I'm trying to get down to - one USB cable from the host (DOSBox, MiSTer, etc.), one line out to speakers (or ideally, headphones), and in the middle, one box that's both a PCM audio device and a GS MIDI synth.

Or, a box that contains a tiny USB hub, USB audio device, X2GS-USB, mixer, and optional headphone amp.

Even if I never get quite the all-in-one box I'm imagining, thanks for making this stuff. The SC-55s of the world aren't going to last forever.
