this is one of the few umc8881 boards that can meet my requests: 4 dimms, coin cell and no rtc component, and obtainable. however, i wonder whats the different between the hippo15 and hippo15c? and are their bios compatible with each other? they have a seemingly identical layout, although the hippo15 reads rev1.2x while hippo15c reads rev2.0.
and to those with this board, which bios version do you use?
octek was from hongkong, and their vesa 486 boards(namely the frauding dca with no cache) are rather plentiful here, but the hippo15 pci board is less common, just appearing occasionally. the most common pci 486 boards here are:
ald5400, a decent board with remarked ali1489 chipset.
informtech sis496, 2 dimms and 2 pci slots only.
T&w s486, another mediocre sis496 board with 2 dimms and 3pci slots.
pcchips m921(or clone of it), umc8881 chipset, not the m919 with fake cache, but with only 2 simm slots and a bug: it will only cache up to 56mb of ram even with 512kb cache in wt mode, and the dram beyond that are not even cached by internal l1 cache.
