Wow, it looks like it is in amazing condition! Did the board suffer any battery corrosion damage after all those years? That 486DLC is just so clean and and nice looking...

I'm happy for you! Enjoy the build! 😁

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

Wow, that was some amazing forethought! If everyone had done that when they retired their 286, 386 and 486 systems there would probably be millions more of those old boards still working today.

Now for some blitting from the back buffer.

It will be good to upload photo of this motherboard to theretroweb (an BIOS image).

Need help? Begin with photo and model of your hardware 😉

I was "lucky" back on time, because i already had problems with batteries leakage in a old radio, and then i was aware of the problem. Since then i always remove battery when store motherboards and other electronic stuff

I feel you man. Sometimes it's great when something from one's childhood unexpectedly turns up, and brings back all those fond memories.

I hope you are able to build a nice system with it, when time permits. Enjoy!

Thanks, yes is like go back to late 80s and first 90s... when i was 10-12 and all in computers was still new, to discover, like star trek episode. This is the exact feeling, was like this, discover a new world every day

When i found/buy something old i have a little of this feeling back

Im now building a Harris 286 25mhz, with similar board i have when young, same case, etc and this momments i feel exactly like before, something new to discover and learn every time

ok, i found two more card that i used in this build in early-mine 90s

My first XT have MDA, but when i move to 286 i buy a VGA card, i remember was a Western i think, not sure, but yes i remember my next a trident, was fine, but in 93?¿ become slow has hell, and i swap for the Cirrus Logic CL5422, a very ver good card

About sound, in XT i have a homemade speach thing and pcspeaker, but when i move to 286 i buy a adlib (compatible for sure?¿) card, and in 93?¿ i buy a brand new Mitsumi LU005S cdrom that came with his own controller card and with RCA outputs, i think was first in town to have cdrom!! less than one year later i miss FX sound and in other hand remember was short of isa slot, then i buy the Opti Card 929, MAD16, this is a very nice card, solid SB Pro (even stereo with a tsr), and WSS support in windows, but best, was that have mitsumi controller, then no need to use two ISA cards

The attachment IMG_20260218_113847.jpg is no longer available

Thank good still keep this cards, for now i have from my original setup

motherboard + sound card + video + case + cdrom! i will put pictures later of this!
