Has Anyone ever found a way to make this game run flawlessly on modern machines? it seems to be really forgotten in terms that redbook music doesn't work and using dgvoodoo to run this game with the latest patch even on higher resolution results in terrible slowdowns.

Runs as flawlessly as can be on modern hardware.

Got the retail version working on a 4060 in W10 using dgv 2.87 (the game even works without dgv, though it runs too fast).
You'll need a virtual CD drive emulator like Daemon Tools that can mount bin/cue for the music and to pass the CD check.
The music is too loud, but ayuanx's ogg-winmm fork takes care of that.

The 1.2a patch needs the -d3d parameter but has choppy animations for some reason, so I recommend sticking to vanilla 1.0.
Wasn't able to find a detailed changelog, the readme just mentions a few video card fixes and nothing important.

I never got very far in the game so I dunno what other issues might be encountered.
Saw some rumor about an enemy in level 3 being unkillable but that might just be due to unlocked framerate which makes the game harder.
