Might also see if I can get a CRT from Marketplace or eBay, there's a Gateway near me from £50, although I might see how low the seller will go.

As it turns out - I decided to ask the seller how low they'd go and they'd be willing to do £20. Just need to wait until Saturday to get the money, and I should be able to pick it up then.

Really? I am surprised it hasn't been snapped up for the £50 asking price TBH. Though CRTs are harder to sell than other retro tech due to the fact you can't really post them. It really depends if there is anyone near you wanting one.

Was surprised too. Guess NI just ain't a country for retro computing nerds.

Keep saving up for the motherboard so you can actually do something with the parts, because the longer you wait to test your other items the harder it will be to return them if anything is dead

Behold - the monitor she tells you not to worry about, the Gateway EV910B! It's got 19 inches on it with a viewable 18.5, and a max resolution of 1600x1200 at a 75Hz refresh rate! It's so big it'll make your LCDs nervous to be around!

In all seriousness though, yea, this is a great monitor.

Now THAT is a nice monitor! Kudos!

If it's dual it's kind of cool ... 😎

Yea! Especially when you consider my only 4:3 monitor before this was a busted 1024x768 unbranded LCD.

Nice. Just PSU, soundcard, Floppy Drive and optical drive to go then?

Hi,

This seems to be coming together to be a nice retro gaming rig.

The only thing I have doubts about in that component list is that the motherboard is made by Siemens, I had some bad experiences with Siemens motherboards, but hope that this one will be good 😀

And a hint by the way, if you order a period correct PSU, test it with a dummy load and a multimeter, it would be quite unlucky to have it blown up because of some fault in the PSU after collecting all that together.

Also as mentioned by someone HL is the most demanding game on the list, I remember playing the base HL game without problems with a similar configuration back then so I think there will be no problems regarding that. However if you also wish to play with HL mods then some of them have more demanding requirements.

That is all that I can add now, I hope it will work when put together and you will have a nice retro computer 😀

Sellet's planning to bundle in a sound card, and already have the floppy/optical drives and PSU. Just need the case and I'm set
