i got Moto racer 1 working great in d3d 640 x 400. 640 x 480 do graphical glitch not enough vram
Jet Moto 1 works in d3d 640 x 480

But nfs iii has always the game running only in white and grey colors. any idea ? ( works in software )
does is exist a way to force 512 x 384 resolution in d3d ?

Thanks for answer

As i know NFS3 is 640x480 or more, but you could change colors, 15bit / 16bit and more, at least with ATi.
Usually for 2MB and lower cards i use games with lower resolution options, like 320x240 and 400x300.

I dont think more ram or smaller resolution would help. NFS3 will require blending modes and alpha blending not supported by Virge.

Yes it will, not fastest card, its then playable. You can try ati 3dcif driver for Win9x.

What sadism is this?

NFSHP on a 233 with a 2MB Virge? No way.

I had a 300 with a 4MB Virge and that thing did’t texture hardly squat, that’s the grey colours you see.

I know it says it can do d3d, but don’t believe everything you read 😀

🤣, ok same grey crap !

But honestly it plays moto racer 1 in 640 x 400 prefectly, no glitch. same thing for jet moto 1 in 640 x 480 and tomb raider and screamer, croc , but not much interesting games than that. I know it's one of the first d3d card.

i love gpu sadism 🤪

Without a period correct gpu like Riva TNT or ATI Rage 128 you will be limited to 400x300 software rendering. Not worth it.

on the compaq armada 1750 with ati rage pro LT 4mb and p2-366, hot pursuit iii runs full graphics in d3d very well in 640 x 480. even in 800 x 600 it's still playable but its better remove special effect and medium for distance, and its even faster if you do it in 640 x 480, its more than 30 fps for sure

DX6 dll (d3da.dll) from nfs4 works faster with rage pro cards than original (the one inside 3dsetup folder).

Virge can only adequately run the S3D native port games.

NFS3 really needs at least Voodoo1 performance. And at least 4MB texture memory for the vehicle dashboard to show. That means Voodoo1 6MB or Voodoo2 12MB by the way.

Did it run bit better for you? NFS3 modern patch DX6 file has the same version, its probably modified somehow.

The S3 Virge is a DirectX 3.0 card. Leave it alone with your DirectX 6.0 games.
