Anybody want a SuperMicro H8SCM motherboard with an Opteron 4280, 16GB DDR3-1600 and 1U CPU cooler?

The I/O panel is from a SuperMicro 1U case. Probably can be screwed into a regular ATX case.

This came from an old Barracuda Web App Firewall. The BIOS password has already been cleared.

The CPU is basically a lower powered AMD FX-8150 using the C32 socket. Boost speed is 3.5Ghz.

Onboard video is Matrox G200.

Has dual onboard gigabit NIC.

A board and CPU from ~2011 with integrated graphics from 1998 sounded weird to me, but I googled it and now I am aware that the Matrox G200eW is a thing. It is contained within the Nuvoton BMC chip. Pretty cool. 🙂

Yep, the G200 series is used on even newer OEM servers and 3rd party server motherboards as well.

I built my NAS on a Supermicro H8DGI-F years ago and still use it to this day. It manages multiple ZFS arrays and has plenty of availability cores and memory for the job. It's not the fastest or the most energy efficient, but I have tons of spare parts and all it does is sit there. I have no reason to upgrade at all.

Anybody want any USB to serial adapters? They will be older FTDI and fake FTDI cables. They will not work in Windows 11 due to FTDI locking down the driver for Windows 11 to only work with newer version cables. They did this to lock out the use of their drivers with the fake / clones Chinese adapters.

They may not work in Windows 10 either. One of the ones I have marked as not working in Windows 10.

The clones supposedly have issues with certain things but I really only used them for configuring Cisco switches and never had a single issue.

Edit: I'll throw in a genuine ftdi based USB serial adapter with any claims if the clones. Right now I have 5 clones but may have more.

Motherboard and USB serial adapters are still available. If the motherboard is not gone within a day or two, it is going up on eBay.

I now have these two low profile AGP cards available. A Vanta 16 and a Radeon 128 Pro. The Vanta 16 has a few superficial scratches on the back side. The Radeon 128 Pro has some rust on the bracket.
Both have been tested to POST.

Or how about a couple HP branded 3DConnexion SpacePilot CAD controllers?

These work fine in up to Windows 10 with the older driver versions that support the SpacePilot.

The rubbery grip has turned to goo. Easy enough to remove with lemon essential oil (fastest). Citrus based furniture polish will remove it as well, but takes a lot longer.

The local electronics store has a USB-A Male to PS/2 Female adapter for a few dollars I could use to connect it with the KVM. The last thing I would need to source is a 2x10 IDC cable to connect it with the motherboard.

I have a spare 2x 10pin IDC cable as well, or you can get one from AliExpress. Anyways, I'll send you a private message when I have checked out what postage options are available.

EDIT: NeoG mentioned that he doesn't have actual long term use for it besides testing, so we'll wait a few days in case somebody with a serial only computer and a KVM switch wants it.

I've still not received shipping from two different people. One was for the Opteron motherboard combo and the other was for the low profile video cards.

Just sent them both another PM asking if they still want them, but is has been about a week since I sent them the cost of shipping and then hearing absolutely nothing back.

Edit: video card person responded back and the cards have been shipped. Opteron combo has been claimed by another person since the original person never got back with me.

All you need on a rackmount server is a 2d framebuffer for basic console work. Any video chipset from 1990 on will work just fine. ATI had the ES1000 which was just a rage pro chipset for servers. It launched in the mid 2000s and was around until very recently. Matrox chipsets always had good 2d cores and ramdacs, so it's good for 2d console work.

How does this connect to the PC? A cable into one of those serial headers that normally go to a ribbon cable out the back?

Yes, exactly. I have suitable 10pin IDC cables as well if you need one.

my kvm's are ps/2, but what adapter are you expecting to covert from ps/2 to the usb connecter? I think i only have the female usb to male ps/2.

Female PS/2 to male USB adapters exist as well. I put USB connector to my converter because I expected that it would be more common to use an USB mouse with PS/2 support. This was relatively common in USB mice even quite recently.

I still have this. Unfortunately sending to the US is not possible at the moment, but sending it to an EU country would cost 6,1e and elsewhere in the world 6,4e.

I've got something else if anybody wants it for the price of shipping. It is a Realistic Pro-34 UHF/VHF scanner.

It has a battery holder that takes 6 AA batteries. I did have to clean the battery holder and the connections for the battery holder in the unit itself.

It powers on and scans when powered by battery or 9v DC power adapter.

However, I am certain it has a poor connection inside the unit somewhere as the power will cut off if it is tapped. Should be a pretty simple fix but I don't have the time or want to fix it myself.

I will include a 9v DC power adapter that works with it if you want.

Have this weird-ish motherboard. It works but really has no real overclocking options at all that seem to work. Again, taker pays shipping.

I did cut the JEN soldered jumper which did sort-of unlock the jumper-free fsb, multiplier and RAM / FSB divider but either the BIOS doesn't detect the CPU speed properly or the BIOS settings don't do anything besides being able to switch between 100 and 133 fsb. Everything else is just weird. You can still use the regular jumpers to force 100/100, 100/133 and 133/100 and 133/133 settings.

The jumpers have to be removed for the jumper-free functionality to enable in the BIOS.

It detects Palomino CPUs properly. Thoroughbred are no POST, and Barton Mobile POSTS, but the onboard video will not work unless the RAM divider is not 1:1 (when using Barton Mobile).

The BIOS reports the CPU voltage at 1.8 no matter the CPU installed.

The BIOS is the latest official 1007. There is a slightly newer BETA BIOS which I did not try.

The board is an ASUS A7N266-VM/AA. It has the Nvidia nforce chipset.

I saw a note somewhere that version 1.03 had the newer MX420 for the onboard video. This one is 1.05 so I am guessing it also has the MX420 for the onboard video.
