For my machine, a Dell Dimension E520 with a Pentium D 2.8 GHz, 3.07 GB RAM, and an nVidia GeForce 8400 GS, what would be good platformers or puzzle games, considering the last timed I tried to find any, I turned out with only one good one, that being Portal 1.

Watch the capacitors on that machine

"This all reminds me when i took the windows vista sticker thingy off my old laptop, and on my washing machine as a joke. A few days later said washing machine stopped working. I still think this cannot be a coincidence."

Your machine is well past the era of the great PC puzzle and platform games (ask if you want some recommendations for those as well), but I will recommend one that may be a bit of a hidden gem and also is a bit of both...

Oh are we talking 3d puzzle games? Portal was the first of its kind. But if we are talking 2d, I remember playing "Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords" maybe 20 years ago. It was cool. it should run I suppose.

I enjoy Boppin. It has good graphics and usual game music and plot: you have to free all the monsters hidden in blocks by throwing other blocks.

I recommend you try www.dosgamesarchive.com. It has a lot of good games. BTW, I also like Duke Nukem 1 and 2, the Keen series, Jazz Jackrabbit and Alien Carnage.
