Hello, everyone!

I have a question for the resident A3D experts.

I’m building a Win98 machine with an MX300 sound card, and would like to play the following games:

Half-Life
Quake II (I think there’s a patch to add A3D)
Quake III Arena
American McGee’s Alice
No One Lives Forever
System Shock 2
Star Trek Voyager: Elite Force
Unreal Gold
Unreal Tournament
Kingpin: Life of Crime
Deus Ex
AquaNox
Dungeon Keeper 2 (this is A3D 1.0 to the best of my knowledge)

Do you have experience with these games and A3D? How were they? Do they all work with driver 2041 or do some of them require specific driver versions?

I had crackling/popping issues in Thief 1&2 and Dark Forces 2: Jedi Knight when using 2041 drivers on my Turtle Beach Montego II. IIRC, they went away after downgrading to 2000 drivers, similarly to what was reported here. Not sure if that would also be the case for your MX300, since it's from a different manufacturer. If you do a search for "Vortex 2 drivers" on this forum, you'll find a bunch of threads with people having various experiences with certain driver versions.

Regarding Quake 3, patch 1.17 was the last one which still had functional A3D. All later updates to that game removed A3D support entirely.
