Just a quick update to report that the new VSBHDA 1.9 also doesn't seem to work with my HP t5720. Like the 1.8 version it seems to recognize everything but I get no sound at all on any games. Like before, the 1.7 version does work... Could someone maybe share their working AUTOEXEC.BAT and CONFIG.SYS files as I'm probably setting up VSBHDA wrong?

Haven't tested 1.9 yet, will try it later, but works with 1.8. I only have Cute Mouse in my autoexec file which is unrelated, my config:

1DEVICE=C:\JEMMEX.EXE
2DOS=HIGH,UMB
3FILES=40

start.bat:

1@echo off
2C:\VSBHDA\jload -q C:\VSBHDA\qpiemu.dll
3C:\VSBHDA\jload -q C:\VSBHDA\jhdpmi.dll
4lh C:\VSBHDA\hdpmi32i -x2 -r
5set blaster=A220 I5 D1 H5 T6 /P330
6C:\VSBHDA\vsbhda.exe
7C:\VSBHDA\uninst
8C:\VSBHDA\vsbhda.exe /VOL9 /SF:C:\VSBHDA\CT8MGM.SF2

Thanks! It seems very similar to my own settings. What really puzzles me is that the 1.7 version works but both 1.8 and 1.9 no longer do, using the exact same settings... Maybe it's my SIS7012...

For me I have to load JEMMEX with NOE820 when using my Audigy card, onboard it works without it.

1DEVICE=C:\JEMMEX.EXE NOE820

You probably won't need it though but give it a go?

Slightly unelated but does VSBHDA work alongside a MT32-pi? I checked out some videos on it and it seems like a great device, very accurate MT32 and can use General Midi soundfonts. The latter works with VSBHDA of course but if a game requires slowing the CPU down it will struggle or crash, using an external device and just using VSBHDA for SoundBlaster SFX would get around this I think? I talked about this in the CPUSPD thread.

I'm now trying to use this with VSBHDA (loading a soundfont for General Midi port 330) however the game locks up. I'm assuming this is because it's using additional CPU as well as RAM to run this in the background which, if I just use Soundblaster for both SFX and music, it works fine. In the following case I'm testing Star Wars Dark Forces (this game is 99.9% fine but is speed sensitive on the ice level where, you can basically get stuck and move really slowly), anyway if I load only VSBHDA with only SoundBlaster SFX and music, it works fine and you can see I am able to move around on the ice @ 250Mhz, but then if I load a soundfont the game crashes even going up to 400mhz (too fast at this point as I get stuck). Not sure if you have tried cpuspd with VSBHDA soundfonts but I guess we can't have it all on these newer platforms 🤣 but I wanted to ask anyway

For the record you can easily get passed this part of the game with a fast CPU you just need to get the ice cleats as soon as possible, but its a good level to test.

Anyone have such a setup?

Anyone having issues with VSBHDA, check out this link as it may help some of you:

The latest version works well with the Chinese MR9S board(also). HDA detection, Roland 26MB SF.
I took some photos, even though my monitor was a bit dusty.

SBEmu is fine, too.

I use them on many different machines, and they work perfectly on all of them.
They are brilliant—big thanks to the developers!
