Hi,
I have a motherboard from the early 1990's that I would like to identify the manufacturer and possibly get documentation. It is a 386-25 with a C&T chipset and an AMI BIOS. The ID string on the BIOS is: "EC&T-1030-030389-K8". I know the 1030 is supposed to identify the manufacturer but I have not been able to find an ID with this low number. I have searched a number of online vintage motherboard sites without success. The only Identifying information on the board is the following: Bi-033 386 between slot3 and slot4.

Thanks!

>early 1990's

all datecodes point at 1989, quite early for Taiwan clones, nice one.

Might even be compatible with https://github.com/raszpl/386RC-16
Can you dump bios?

Hi,

Thank you for the quick response and the links.

I purchased this board new, I don't remember the exact date, just that it was around 1990. After 45+ years, I have also lost docs, accessories etc. , the board is all I have from the original system.

The board starts, runs DOS, and is stable. Do you have a recommendation for a software utility to dump the bios?

Thanks!

https://www.brutman.com/PCjr/downloads/pcjrcart.zip pcjrcart.zip "Cartridge and ROM BIOS extension utility; finds and writes to disk. Version 1.1"
there is also https://theretroweb.com/drivers/1831 "DumpAT (BIOS dumping utility)" but "This will generate a 1MB file with the BIOS image at the bottom. Use whatever hex editor to cut the first empty bytes." suggests it saves whole 1MB of ram 😐

This isn't really of any help, but I found one of the same board listed on a Taiwanese marketplace site:

No useful information in the listing, though. 🙁

@rasz_pl: thanks, I'll try these, after I get the file, do you want me to post it here? Do you know what to look for in it?
@HwAoRrDk: Yes, I think thats been there for a few years now, even translating the page into english does not get any better info.
@PC Hoarder Patrol: Yes, that board does look similar, the BIOS string does have a different 4 digit manufacturer code though.
@TELVM: Yes that is an exact match, hadn't seen that one before.

Thank you to all for the research!

Similar naming style ( BI-025C HT12 286 ) on this board might give a clue to the manufacturer... https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/tidalp … i-025c-ht12-286

Now thats a great find. 'BI-' prefix also appears on some IO cards of same vintage, sadly all marked UNKNOWN too https://theretroweb.com/expansioncards?page=1 … ge=24&name=BI-0

I have to wonder where did the HSM in https://theretroweb.com/motherboards/s/unknown-hsm-386-at came from in the first place seeing the only data for this entry are two low quality scans from a newspaper.

Uploading here would be great. Ill try comparing with some other boards. That non listed 1030 Manufacturer code makes me wonder if it isnt a case of unauthorized rip off by a small OEM manufacturer.

Thank you.
Last 64KB of SYSTEM.txt is a working AMI Plus BIOS https://wiki.softhistory.org/wiki/AMI_Plus_BIOS
Will disassemble and compare to some other boards later.
