On my Windows XP boxes, I use Supermium, but it freezes often on pages like Yahoo! Finance. I've never bothered to troubleshoot or look for an alternative, because web browsing is not a core use case for my Windows XP boxes.

Snipe is a de-Googled browser built on Ungoogled Chromium 140, and unusually it ships builds going all the way back to Windows XP SP3 (plus 7, 8, and a Windows 9 beta), not just 10/11.

What's in it:

• Ungoogled Chromium base - Google sync, crash reporting and update daemons stripped at the binary level
• uBlock Origin compiled into the core (not a disable-able add-on)
• Ruffle built in, so old Flash/SWF content plays again
• A local-only password manager, no AI, no accounts required
• Idles around 23 MB RAM on a single tab

The legacy backports are the interesting part - keeping a current Chromium engine working on XP/7 took real patching. Freeware.

So, there is no Win 10 version of this Snipe browser which will run on Win 10 build 1607 (LTSB)? The "system requirements" say build 1903 or above is required. Why? Otherwise this looks like a good browser to finally debloat and denude Chrome. Still, it is a whopping 220 MB compressed. Are we expected to run a 32-bit version instead? This seems to be a serious limitation.

Answering my own question, the answer is "yes", it needs SSE2. Got there by trial and error.
