Recently got a box and contents for a SB16/CD set and am planning on completing it.

Can anyone identify this iteration of the SB16? I can't seem to. Was leaning on it being the CT2230 but I'm not 100% sure

The cloest I can see is an SB16 Value CT2770 which has the unsoldered sony/mitsumi header, but the crystals are shifted to the left in your image compared to the retail CT2770. Seems to be an uncommon variant, hopefully someone can shed some more light. Or maybe the picture is of a pre-release version of the card and the one in the box was a retail CT2770. What does the rest of the box look like?

Hasn't arrived to me yet but here is a pic from the eBay listing:

Just because there's a picture of that card on the box doesn't mean that's what's inside. Just like how you don't actually get the boxed games, but rather CDs in paper sleeves. When I was a kid, this kind of crap would drive me nuts. I'd often get toys that were totally different colours than what was pictured on the box, and these were major toy brands doing it.

That sucks then, I hope someone who has this box set sees this and knows what card is in here.

I can't find any reference to this box online so you might be waiting a while, but my guess is it would have been a CT2770 non-A variant

Looking for games bundled with Sound/3D Blasters

Although the box art shown in this thread was different for the Game Blaster CD16 MK4023 kit, couple of people saying it was a CT2230. Certainly an odd looking SB16 on the box art you’ve shared -but more than likely just a standard variant was inside. One of my Aztech upgrade kits has a similar art to content mismatch.

I got the box for it in already and there's no documentation for the card unfortunately.

Found an ad for it here as well that shows the SB16 card, in PC Gamer Vol. 1 Issue 2 from 1994. Still doesn't list the exact model of the card SMH:
