Please also patch for ES1371 audio on Windows 95 / 98FE VMware Guest.
Install original ES1371 audio driver on Windows 95 / 98FE VMware Guest will cause BSOD.

A virtio-snd sound driver for Win9x might be useful. (Even though VMWare unfortunately doesn't support VirtIO devices yet, at least to my knowledge.)

This is the one I use Win9x Creative Ensoniq Audio PCI Sound Card Drivers
Win 11 - Intel i7-1360p - 32 GB - Intel Iris Xe - ESI Maya22 USB
On vmware the BSOD could be solved by disabling the pcibridges (https://archive.org/details/Win9xSoundDriversVMwareFusion). Unless this is a different BSOD.
Quick update: after 2 year I finally release new version. Now is integrated memory patch (allow to use more than 512 MB RAM) and I also tried to cleanup control registers on startup. I hope that will make usage of Windows 95/98/Me a bit easier in these days!
Good job.
But how we could uninstall patches? (like Loew's PATCHMEM)
I have installed full set of v0.9.88 on real Pentium III with 1024 MB RAM and got bootlogo freeze.
wassup @JH64!! I'm just here to say thanks and send you a e-hug!! very cool retro piece of code you made, much appreciated, I got a fresh win98 up and running without issues 😀))
thanks again and regards from Spain <3
PatchMem doesn't work on Windows 95.
Tested on VBox 7.2.4 (but I don't think it changes much).
Patcher 9X has been integrated.
Here are the results:
But the disheartening thing is that not only can't you remove it, but you can't install PATCHMEM; it's basically stuck in a loop.
I don't recommend installing it, at least for Windows 95.
On Windows 98, it works even with 3GB of RAM.
@Condor.07 did you this this:
Re: Win95 on Haswell, 8 GB RAM - error Insufficient memory...

With PATCHMEM of RLoew, I have 3GB of RAM without any problems. (Tests were also done on a real PC with 24GB RAM)
HimemX's method is absolutely flawed.
The reason I wanted to use this program is to integrate it directly into the system without having to install it at the end.
With Windows 98SE/ME it seems to work, with Windows 95 only FIXCPU works, but not PATCHMEM.
Okay, I've already found the Patcher 9x bug.
Basically, when you apply the patch, before or after, the VMM.VXD file is never created, and without it, PatchMem will never work.
This applies to Windows 95 only.
