It's a very nice haul... how do you get your hands on boxed cards?

I'm gonna guess fleabay and just paid the toll, or small independent computer store stock clearance., or DMC12 with flux capacitor mod... or found one of those relatively isolated small towns where they had an engineering facility close in the last 5 years, and their thrift is flooded with all the gear the nerds bought over the years, when they moved away.... I gotta find me one of those. 🤣

I wish they still included so many games when you got a gaming card today.

It's definitely gone from "Welcome to an awesome gaming experience, this should keep you busy for a couple of months." to "Well, here's your overpriced card then."

Wow those are amazing pickup! And yes cards used to come with awesome games . Though I did get Borderlands 4 when I picked up my 5080 , but I wish I got Doom dark age instead as BL4 is kind of ass.

I also dont think that my Voodoo banshee or voodoo 3 2000 came with games when I bought those new back in the day. I remember when I got the banshee, I went to the mall to get a game to test with it. I got Future Cop LAPD. I still have my original Box and game.

I agree! The original box design for the Creative 3D Blaster Annihilator Pro (before they added Geforce 256 to the name) was one of the most impressive, yet subtle, boxes I'd ever seen. I remember seeing it on the video card shelf at Electronics Boutique back when "Geforce" didn't really mean anything to most enthusiasts yet, so they didn't even put it in big print on the front of the box.

I love that Annihilator box. It still looks contemporary to this day.

My Diamond Monster 3D II came with Unreal IIRC or it may have been UT99, memory from back then is a bit fuzzy but I do remember they were pushing Unreal pretty damn hard and most of the 3DFX cards had a copy of it bundled.

Usually I prefer to buy many motherboards, but sometimes I find some special boards, sold individually, and if the price is not excessive, the purchase!
Recently I ran various benchtop DOS with a couple of S.370 motherboards, one with SIS chipset and the other with i810, unfortunately both cannot be updated to Coppermine (only Mendocino), but looking for an S.370 for Coppermine, I found something better!
An ASUS TUSI-M, SIS chipset with Tualatin CPU support, honestly I already have a TUSL2-C with P3S-1400, which has less the amount of installable memory, only 512 MB against 🆚 1 GB 🇬🇧 of the TUSI-M, for the rest it should be better.
I don't know how long it will take to arrive, but as soon as I have it between my legs 🐾, I'll see to put it on and start doing some bench, the paper seems to be in excellent condition, and the paper manual and the original box are included.

The tank was also used in the Japanese localization. 😀

Not retro in it self, but for retro purposes. 4x2MByte memory to upgrade my own CT4500 and CT4520 as well as a friend's CT4500 from 512k to 2meg as per this post

Creative AWE64 CT4500 upgraded to 2MB of RAM

[Edit] it's roughly the same process for the 4520 as per YouTube videos.

Technically traded a bunch of dud boards... for a Matrox G400 32MB. It's the single VGA SDR version. I remember having quite the fun with Matrox, especially during 2nd year of uni, when a G200 8MB managed to outperform a Rage IIC 🤣

My first crack at a Pentium M retro build was this i915 ITX industrial board.

Planned on using an adapter from mini PCI to full-size PCI for a sound card so I could fit it all in a Fractal Ridge. It all fell through after dropping hundreds $$$ on the Amfeltec solution that wasn't compatible with this board.

I really wanted either the Aopen 855 or the Kontron 886/ITX board, But that's life.

Well it did come back as the Core Uarch which was a mash of Pentium M, Netburst and a bit of new tech. Netburst was not all bad it did have some good features buried in the core and they moved these to the Pentium M core and threw is a few new ones and well the rest is history.

This then carried Intel a long damn way . .all the way through Skylake.
