I have just bought Ravenloft 2 and it is impossible to make it work.

I am using DosBox to install the game. Everything is ok except that, just before installing datas on the computer, the program says that it can not see the cdrom drive (impossible to install from the cd rom, I had to copy everything on my HDD then drag and drop install.exe on dosbox.exe). Nevertheless, the installation is done without any problem.
Then, if i try to launch the game, Dosbox says that 2 files, res9 and res10, are missing. So I copied those two files from the cd rom to the game directory.

Then, if I try to launch the game, I have got this error :

DFMEM: Aborted, error=1
all handles in use

DOS/4GW Professional error (2001): exception 01h (debug exception) at 18:000000
18
TSF32: prev_tsf 6A0C

Then some memory addresses (I guess).

Is anybody has an idea to make this game run. I was looking for it for years,...

If it can help, I am using Vista, with a dual core processor.

Big thanks to the one who will help me.

PS: I thought at the beginning that it was a sound problem...but even if I ask for no sound, the same thing happens.

EDIT : i have found how to run the game. Actually, you have to say that the cd rom drive is on a:

So you just have to write :

Z:\ mount a d:\
(if d: is your cdrom drive letter)

then Z:\ mount c c:\''where you want your game to be installed''
(if c: is your HDD letter)
Z:\ d:

d:\ install

Then, after installation, close DosBox and copy res9 and res10 from the cdrom to you game directory.

Last step, open for the last time DosBox, do the same thing above (mount a d:\ and mount c c:\your game directory) then do Z:\ c: then c:\cd prophet and finally c:\prophet\prophet.

And the game is working with sound and eveything.

I hope I will help.

You're mounting your CDROM (D: drive) as A, so the commands to install the game would be:-

a: <ENTER>
install <ENTER>

But wait! That's not enough as you also have to Mount a virtual C: drive as well <--- Where the game will be installed and where you can run it from later.

So you should, in Windows Explorer (My Computer), make a folder somewhere on C: drive - For Example DOSGAMES. Then in DOSBox mount the DOSGAMES folder as C with this command:-

mount c c:\DOSGAMES

So all of the commands needed :-

mount c c:\DOSGAMES <ENTER>

mount a D:\ <ENTER>

a: <ENTER>

install <ENTER>

The game will then install itself into a folder within your virtual C: Drive (C:\DOSGAMES)

So to run the game you will need to:-

cd <name of game folder> <ENTER>
<name of game executable> <ENTER>

Both Stradh's Possession and Stone Prophet work fine using DOSBox 0.72. I have finished them recently.
