Im not sure there is an alternative to Github. At least not one I know and use.

The mainstream ones I know of are GitLab and BitBucket. I've used them both for specific projects. I am sure AI can pull a comparative list of advantages and disadvantages, but I think GitHub leads not only in market share but also in development speed and introduction of new features.

How are password leaks still a problem? Aren't they supposed to be hashed?

Yes but it doesn't help if the password is too easy to begin with. The hash algorithm gets weaker over time too (think md5).
There are also things like keyloggers...hash doesn't help against that.

RocketGit might be the place for luddites but even they have 2FA listed in their comparison page.
I don't use it myself so not sure if that's a requirement for logins though.

About alternatives, i checked codeberg, but yes, look very stric about many things, im a guy that like to just write whatever code i want, use code from others if work for me, and just upload. I dont care about what gpl, or I dont know is. In my brain is simple, if a code is on internet, is for use. Just be nice and give credit in readme. And codeberg look like is not like this

As annoying as all the legalese of these open source licenses is to most of us, not respecting the terms under which source code is disclosed will land you in hot water.

People made their code available to others, which is a very generous thing. The least we can do is respect the terms under which they have decided to do so.

About IA i dont use much or at all, but i think is not bad to use, look like a great tool, is just i enjoy coding, i do in my free time like a hobby

Well then, AI is also perfect for figuring out the terms of licenses, including what attribution to put in your project, how you may relicense it (or not) and other stuff. Just prompt an AI to help you out with all that boring legal stuff, and summarize it to you, in your preferred language even! 🙂

man, really, who the hell will have interest in code and software for the 286 beside me and 4 freaks on internet. Nobody will stole anything, im close to 50s and using online stuff since bbs in late 80s and NEVER happen anything with my things

lets be real, nodoby care about us in this side of the world, the hobby side

That's an assumption. Some people might absolutely care about the license under which they release their code to others, retro or not.

Please don't take this lightly, as tedious as it may be. 🙏🏽
