Honestly, you've done a phenomenal job! Thank you so much!
I absolutely love the “Cover View” option!, and all the previous errors have been fixed.

The only minor errors I was able to find were:
1) The text in the game titles leaves a margin or blank line when it only takes up one line (as shown in the screenshot).
2) It’s not possible to insert an image as a background (either in the game list or the media preview).

And this is just a personal request: I think the cover art view would look better if the titles weren’t displayed by default.

I’ll keep testing it, but I think it’s already great as is!

They are some good ideas. I like the background image on the list view, I will see if I can make that part of the next release. In the meantime, here is a QT6 build of the Linux version. It defaults to Wayland if available, then X11 as a fallback.

I can't download this new version for Qt6; the download link gives an error. I hope you can fix it soon—I'm really looking forward to trying it out!

As for the idea of adding background images, whether in the list view or in the profiles, that wasn't my idea; it's a feature that's already implemented in DFendX, under “Program Options,” in the “User Interface/Game List” or “Media Preview” section.
I just wanted to let you know that it wasn't working. My idea was to put a small image of the clouds from *The Curse of Monkey Island* behind the game covers.
Still, I think that since it's a small image, it would need to be repeated until it fills the entire space for it to look right.

I have re-uploaded, I think the upload got cut off last time:
https://send.bitwarden.com/#wtjTxH9bXEu2m7TuA … CInddOdMbd-WYlw

And yes I realized soon afterwards the background image feature already exists and works in the Windows version - this was just an effect of the Lazarus migration. I will try and fix that in the next Linux release as well. Cheers.

The Qt6 version of Wayland for Linux works perfectly! Great job.
I've discovered a regression in this new version: when I select “Open Capture Folder,” no window opens, and it doesn't throw an error or anything—it just does nothing.
I'll keep trying—thanks!

Hey! I found another bug—at least in the Linux version—where, when you filter games by year, genre, etc., the cover art gets mixed up.

I'll keep testing! I hope you're doing well!

Hi, I can't seem to reproduce this. Can you clarify what you mean by mixed up? Like you see the cover art for one game in a different game Screenshot tab, or the list view Icons themselves dont match the game? Cheers.

Hi, what I mean is that, for example, when I choose to sort by year, the cover art for one game appears instead of another's. I've attached a screenshot.

The attachment badorder.png is no longer available

As for the other issue I mentioned earlier—the one where I can't open the profile images folder in Wayland—were you able to reproduce it?

I have a new Linux build that has a major rewrite of image collection code. I can't say it will solve that particular issue yet as I can't reproduce it. However, I did manage to get a few things working:

- tiled background image on Linux
- cover view/screenshot view as well as selecting the cover/screenshot image for a profile
- cleaned up layout on a few frames in Program Settings (many more to go though)
- changes from the previous windows 2.6.6 release

feel free to give it a whirl: https://send.bitwarden.com/#YJPVEKPyvUuapLT0A … hmGUxXndvwVd6QQ

It's great to see a new version! Here's a quick test: (I've attached an image here to illustrate, in a more practical way, what works and what doesn't.)

* I see you've removed the default titles from the cover art view—it looks great and very clean! Thanks!
* The feature for setting an image as the background also works great!
* Unfortunately, the feature to open the capture folder or the program folder from the context menu that appears when you right-click on a game's image still isn't working. (This is an important feature because it’s the easiest and fastest way to add a cover art or screenshots to a game’s profile while editing your collection.) In the X11 version, it works perfectly and that’s actually the one I’m using to organize my collection.

The attachment dfendx open folder error.jpg is no longer available

* Scrolling through the list of games with the mouse wheel is very jerky—even if I only turn it a little, it jumps several lines at once. Could you make it a little smoother?
*The bug where the cover art gets mixed up when filtering games by year, publisher, etc., is still there.

That's all for now. I hope this helps, and as always, I want to thank you for your work and your time! Best regards and thanks

Hi, thanks for testing again. And yes, the remaining issues you mentioned I did not have time to look into deeply yet. I will aim to resolve them for the next release. I do not see the jerky scrolling however. Are you running Linux in a virtual machine? If so you you have 3D enabled and assigned adequate RAM for the video buffer?

I use Arch Linux (EndeavourOS) natively, with the latest updates.
As for the jerky—maybe I didn’t explain myself well—what I mean is that when I scroll the mouse wheel just a little in the cover art view, instead of moving up or down gradually, it jumps in big steps, and it becomes difficult to select certain games because I scroll right past them. For example, let’s say I have 10 rows of cover art. When I gently scroll the mouse wheel—say, starting from the first row—instead of moving to the second row, it jumps straight to the third row instead of moving progressively.
I hope that clarifies things better.

Using a D-Fend fork in 2026 is like reuniting with an old friend.

I've given DFendX v2.6.7 portable an extremely short test drive, and I have a couple of requests, if you don't mind.

1) I'd like to be able to select multiple profiles at the same time from the main window. To delete them, or to associate them with a different DOSBox fork.

2) I've tried importing a DBGL package with games. I'm afraid I stored hundreds of games in those packages over the years. But so far DFendX can't import properly. Would it be possible in future realeases....?

Actually this feature exists - it's just buried away under "Extras\Edit multiple profiles". However it has not been very well tested in DFendX, and I don't know how well it works with different DOSBox forks. But I think it should be able to set something simple like the current DOSBox fork.

2) I've tried importing a DBGL package with games. I'm afraid I stored hundreds of games in those packages over the years. But so far DFendX can't import properly. Would it be possible in future realeases....?

It's probably possible, I will add it to the TODO list. Given DBGL is just a dosbox front-end, it must store similar information, so it should be just a matter of translating it to DFendX format, or even just using DBGL profiles directly.

Thanks for trying it out!

I have uploaded a new build that should fix the data dir issue, as well as a few layout issues in program settings:
https://send.bitwarden.com/#01L08lB0W02IXLT2A … fvBjcVjsgSf6uow

As for the other two issues:
- the mouse scroll worked fine for me, when I moved the mouse wheel it scrolled about half the height on one row, not several lines. Not sure if this is related to the VMWare mouse vs the hardware Linux mouse driver.
- I cannot reproduce any mixed-up cover art. Can you provide exact steps to reproduce this? I.e. which screen is it getting mixed up on? The cover view screen or the screenshots tab? How you do see it is mixed up, do icon captions not match the image or similar? Or are wrong images appears in the screenshots tab?

Actually I realized that DFendX should already have DBGL import function, but its not called that in the UI. Rather, if you go "Profile\Import archive file" it should accept DBGL GamePackArchives. I tested it with arena.dbgl.zip and it worked fine.

Mmm... I did try to import one of my packages, used the wrong option, I think, because I tried to import from ZIP.

I'll try that other option later.
