2 ideas

if using plain 0.72 dosbox

either add to mount the -noioctl switch
or try and use the latest cvs build with the same syntax you've been using

First of all let me just say that i am quite a noob on dosbox and these things, all my knowledge comes from googling and sites like this.

I tried:
mount c(/d/e) e:\ -t -noioctl cdrom --->illegal type noioctl
and
mount c(/d/e) e:\ -noioctl cdrom
c:
altdos
-->CD-Rom driver not installed

I am unfamiliar with cvs, could you explain how to get and use it?

Unfortunately, what you wrote leads to the same black screen.

but

assuming your cdrom is named e: (in Windows)

have you created a c:\dosgames folder in Win explorer before running dosbox ?

I came across this page when googling and am using the patch but they lost me at step 3:

3) Set: Core: Dynamic, Cycles:30.000+, mouse sensitivity 300+ and enable autolock mouse option.

How do I do that???

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

OBS: Since you are on Vista, and Qbix recommended the -noioctl option, better use that too when mounting the CD.

Ok, so here's all I did.

I installed the game from the cd-rom. Tried to run it without dosbox which led to the result you see in th attachment. Also tried adjusting compatibility, did not help.

So I googled, found dosbox and the ''ATLDOS" file.

In dosbox, I typed:

mount c c:\dosgames
mount d e:\ -t cdrom -noioctl
d:
atldos

This led to the black screen. I tried the same along with

core dynamic
cycles 35000

Again, only the black screen came up.[/u]

Sounds wrong. I think you missed a step, like

D:
install

There is a setup file but it doesn't run in dosbox.

Then there must be another file for the dos install.
If you DO NOT install the game inside dosbox, it of course won't work as
the paths are incorrect.

There is a file called dosinst.bat but when I type:

D:\>dosinst

I get:

D:\>cd \atl_dos
Unable to change to: \atl_dos.

D:\>install.bat
Illegal command: install.bat.

atl_dos must be a subdirectory on the cd, not?

There is no such subdirectory on the cd.
