Hello:
I can say without the least shred of humility that I am completely stupid concerning computers and that will probably explain the incoherence of my cry for assistance.
I bought a PC version of Panzer General and I downloaded DOSBox 0.72 with Win32 Installer. My computer is a Toshiba A205 lap top with Windows Vista Intel (R) core 2duo CPU. 1.99 GB Ram/2038 MB/1.66 GHz. Mobile Intel(R) 965 Express Chipset. 32 bit operating system, Broadcom BCM 70010/BCM 70012 Video decoder/Realtek HD Audio. I am not sure what else I need to write down and I know that they request the motherboard but I don't know where to find that info.
I have absolutely no idea what I was doing, I followed the directions as best as I could understand them with mounting, etc. I did get the game to play once and the sound and graphics worked. I played the game for about 5 minutes to see if it would work and then, more importantly, I needed to see if I could do it again, which, of course, I did not get to work again. I know that there is no problem with the DOSBox 0.72.
This saga began last Tuesday and since then I have deleted and downloaded DOSBox a couple of times and I even bought a patch from a place in England that is supposed to assist with Windows Vista. I am not sure of the entire error problems as the screen goes by too fast, but what always showed up was: ERROR: Native mode is not supported by Revision of the Gravis Software less than 2.0 and System does not support fullscreen mode. Also once: Failed to Load @:\hb\DRV\Vesa480.dII. It also once said: This program must run under Win32. Also it has said that there is not enough memory but by following the directions I was able to change the config memory and then there was no problem with that. Additionally, when I install the game again it sometimes installs and sometimes doesn't like when I try to install it on the hard drive then I do something and I am not sure what and then it installs (I am sorry, again, for my lack of understanding) on the hard drive, but then the errors come up but I can't read them and then it goes to the Error: Gravis screen which does stay up.
Again, after a few hours on the first night I did get the game to work and it did splendidly for the few minutes I played it. I tried to keep track of what I was doing to recreate it but I did not know what I was doing so I haven't been able to get it going again.
I do hope this is somewhat clear. Thank you in advance for any help that anyone can give.
