Hey guys,

Im using Dosbox 0.72 to run a certain game (future Wars 'CD Version') but there seems to be a flickering problem. its mostly any sprites that move flicker across the screen, and will flicker behind objects too. Ive loaded many games on dosbox but nothing else seems to have this problem.

I tried it first on my laptop (AMD Turion64 x2 2.0Ghz, 2 gig ram, ATI Radeon x1250 graphics) and then on my desktop pc (Intel Quad cord 2.4ghz. 3 gig of ram, NVIDIA Geforce 8600 GTS) same problem on both.
Im also using D-Fend Reloaded, and have tried every single option in the graphics tab.

any ideas?

Cheers

I also use DFR. Enabled 'Correct aspect ratio' in fullscreen mode may cause such problems. Have you tried turning it off or playing in a window? I experienced some strange screen flickers (tooltips-wise) myself playing Deadline so, of course, it may be related to something else.

I don't have 'Future Wars' so I can only speculate about that.

Thank you for the suggestion and your help.

Has anyone else played this and had the saem issue?

See the graphics settings, the scale/scaling section. If it is set in "normal 2x" mode change it to "scale/scaling: none". This will allow the game to run in the original resolution and not in advanced 640x480 which must be not supported by future wars. I had this problem with Time Quest the adventure game of Legend Entertainment, 1991. I followed the steps described above and the problem was solved.
