Hello everybody,
i want to play iuc (cd) with dosbox 0.63, D-Fend v2, Windows XP with SP3 AND sound effects, trying following:
I copied the Game to c:\iuc, running the setup afterwards.
I got an innocent.ini in c:\innocent
I made a directory \drv in c:\innocent and copied the ct-voice.drv there.
I made two entries in the autoexec.bat:
set sound=C:\innocent
set BLASTER=A220 I7 D1
In dosbox.conf and d-fend, i set the sound emulation tp sbpro2
- using the original dosbox (0.63, also tried 0.60) with the soundblaster option does not work at all, the game stops after the language menu: "unable to install sound driver", even with the recommended "updated DOS Drivers for SBPro 2 (CT-1600) (v1.0) (OLD)"
I wonder how some of you get the original dosbox work with the soundblaster option?!
-second try: Ykhwong's Dosbox special build 0.72 as recommended in another forum and "Mok's Alternate Sound Blaster card driver for 'Innocent Until Caught'." The ct-voice.drv is 2.517k big and from 04-18-03.
Result: Music works with soundblaster option, but i don´t hear sound effects. As someone wrotes, there should be some noise at the end of the intro, when Jakes spaceship is landing.
When I use the "updated DOS Drivers...", the game stops after the language menu: "unable to install sound driver"

Now i don´t know what to do. I dreamed of playing IUC with Roland/with Blaster - Option... 😀
Can someone help? Any suggestions?

Greetings from Germany
Ralf

Uuups, I'm sorry for overlooking something so obvious.

Now I've installed dosbox ver 0.72 and - using Mok's Alternate Sound Blaster card driver for 'Innocent Until Caught' - the Game is playable, but again without sound effects.

When I try "updated DOS Drivers for SBPro 2 (CT-1600) (v1.0) (OLD)" , there is the same old problem: "unable to install sound driver"
I really don't understand why this ct-voice.drv doesn't work.

Any suggestions?

Try with a changed sbtype= setting in your dosbox config file.

Ok, changed the line in the autoexec to
set BLASTER=A220 I7 D1 T4

also tried t1, t2, t3, t6, just to be sure but - no success.

"unable to install sound driver" with the recommended ct-voice.drv.
Just to be sure:
1) The ct-voice.drv is 5108 kb in size and from 07-23-1992?
2) There IS a sound, when Jack lands his "Space Shuttle" on the first planet?

Any further suggestions??? Someone???

Please ONLY use the sbtype= setting and leave the blaster env var alone,
as it's set based on the sbtype during startup.

Yes, it finally works! Roland plays Music! Taxis honk!

The great evil behind all this: D-Fend v2!
When I start IUC without it, everything works.
When I start IUC with D-Fend --> unable to...

Why is this? D-Fend has its own .conf file for each game, but it is nearly the same as the .conf file from dosbox. I don't understand that starting IUC from D-Fend somehow disturbs the sound driver. Strange.

So all your instructions were correct.
Thanks for the help
Ralf

It's
D-Fend v2 for DOSBox 0.62
D-Fend 2.062 (Build 42)

ah yes. Don't use it. It's not compatible with later dosbox builds. (the 0.62 should be a hint)

IUC works fine with D-Fend Reloaded,
updated DOS Drivers for SBPro 2 (CT-1600) (v1.0) (OLD)
and the correct set sound in the autoexec.

Thanks for helping me.
