hi,
i already used the forum-search but didnt find a thread to this particular problem. (if not, i'm sorry for my bad eyes)

it has to do with one of my fav.dos.games rayman.
after a slowly start with dosbox i finally mounted a harddrive and made a soft-copy from the cd, so i wouldnt need it later, faster...

after starting dosbox, mounting c, mounting d , installing rayman from that cd-mount and seeing the screen "installation complete..." i though i can play it but then this happens.

dosbox returns the standard-rayman dialog, with this blue bar on the top
and writes:
CD ROM's Initialization
CD ROM drive found on D:

and then, nothing happens, nothing, not even after 10min and more. i and dont know what to do now ?! (cos the installation works perfect from the mounted-cd-drive)
i got a macbook, intel-based and latest version from dosbox 0.72

hope you can help me, thanks in advance

Tried making a BIN/CUE image instead, and using Imgmount?

That's all fine and dandy, but when things go wrong, it is best to go back to basics and not try to do something fancy.

Read my 60 Seconds Guide to DOSBox (and don't just read it - follow it too).

If that doesn't help, come back with details on how you mounted your C and D drives, how you did the install, how you configured sound, music etc.

Reading the aptly named README file will be a good idea too.

thx for the fast reply, it works now, i just didnt installed sound in the first case, now it runs, i can play and so on, but there is one thing missing.
(and yes, i did the 60sec-tut., this solved the first problem.)

i also used the search- but didnt find anythin fitting 100%, i read many more got sound problems, that they only hear sounds, no music or vice versa,
guess what, i got the same problem, so i tried the original cd, and here comes the trouble:
my mac offers me 2 discs, (only one inserted ofc)
on disc named "RAYMAN" with all the install/game-data and a 2nd disc called "Raymann" (casesensitive!) with the audio-files (the music, not sounds)

so i tried to mount both, using
mount d /volumes/RAYMAN -t cdrom and
mount e /volumes/Raymann -t cdrom to get also the audio as cd, but when i then start rayman from c (mount c ~/dosbox/rayman) it only detects the d-drive and i got only sounds, no music

anyone else got this problem, that his OS offers him 2 cds ? (so trying to make an iso are pointless with 2 cds, i quess)

thanks in advance

Rayman can be put in a CD player and be played like an audio disk. It also has data. Newer OSs read the CD two different ways, and DOSBox only gets the data (Not the music). It's known as a mixed-mode CD.

You need to make a bin/cue image of the disk. Then, you need to imgmount that into DOSBox with the command:

imgmount d path\to\image\rayman.cue -t iso

It works from there (I know. I have it 😎 )
