When I try to run Ultima 8 on DosBox 0.72 I get the following message instead:

how did you install U8? Which version of the game? Floppy, CD-Rom, pre- or post-patch?
(and just for the future, you should add the game title to the subject)
The game was a torrent download, I couldn't tell you more than that, it gives no details in the properties, but others have said it has worked on dosbox for them.
Wonderful. Ask these "specialists" how to get the game to work. You won't get support for pirated games on VOGONS.
Since the unpirated version works just fine, good luck...
Well it's kinda hard to buy such old games anyway.
And where do you get your unpirated versions? Yard Sales?
If you put specialists in quotations then that's just what you call yourself.
