Hi all, thanks in advance for any help you can give me. I'm trying to play Imperium Galactica in DOSbox, and while I can get it to load and play, everything is in turbo mode I guess you'd call it. Time goes very quickly, combat is almost unplayable due to the extreme speed at which things are happening. I get the same effect in Wing commander I, however slowing down the CPU cycles to around 1000 seemed to fix it in WC. Imperium however is designed to run on a 486, and even at the default 3000 cycles it's mind blowingly fast. Cut scenes work ok, it's just actual gameplay is super fast forward speed. I've played a few other games that have this same problem although I can't name names off the top of my head, and if anyone could throw me a bone as to a possible solution I'd be eternally grateful.

If it matters, system specs:

Intel Core2Duo E5200 @ 3.4 GHZ
4 GB DDR2 800
nVidia 8800 GT
Windows XP

Maybe the game switches to protected mode after the cutscenes, in which case Dosbox automatically sets maximum cycles. I know Tie Fighter does this. You can disable it by setting core=dynamic or core=normal and cycles=3000 instead of core=auto and cycles=auto in dosbox.conf.

I've actually set Core to Dynamic and Cycles to 3000 and it has no effect.

Then try core=normal and cycles=500 and be sure the correct value is displayed
in the title bar of the dosbox window.
