Hi,

I want to get Wolfenstein 3D to run on DosBox but doesn't seem like it will.

I installed Wolf3D (entire folder) in a folder I called c:\oldgames

I also mounted c:\oldgames as the c:\

Now in my DosBox the prompt is

c:\Wolf3d>

The execute file of Wolf3D is wolf3d.exe

So by right, this line should work:

c:\wolf3d>wolf3d.exe

And yet it does not work.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong?

And also, how do I exit DosBox properly? Just X it?

Thanks for any answers.

Strange, works for me.

Yes, or type EXIT at the prompt.

I think that is where you screwed up.

I think that is where you screwed up

I installed the wolfenstein folder in a folder I called oldgames

Inside c:\oldgames\wolf3d\

there is the execute file named wolf3d.exe

So my steps were like below:

1) z:\>mount c c:\oldgames

2) z:\>c:\

3) c:\>cd wolf3d

4) C:\wolf3d>wolf3d.exe

These are the paths I used or what happened, can you spot what went wrong? The game doesn't load.

The game doesn't load.

Nothing happens. On the emulator, the prompt goes back to:

c:\wolf3d>_

Also, my PC is Windows XP SP2 and running AMD 2X. If I double click the wolf3d.exe file directly, the game loads, but when I start using the DosBox emulator, it doesn't work....?

No, I just downloaded the zip file from a download site and extracted the files into a folder named wolf3d. It's a very small game with a few files and there is an execute file called wolf3d.exe

well I don't know. I know the version that you have to install works fine.
Maybe ask where you downloaded it.

The attached config file will install and run Wolfenstein 3D (Shareware v. 1.4). Just unpack the 1wolf14.zip file into a folder called Unpacked, create an empty folder called C-drive, and run DOSBox from the folder with the Unpacked and the C-drive folder.

Thanks. I'll try that.
