I just wanted to tell that there is a space MMO in the style of Civilization and Master of Orion, it's not a dos game but it's an old style game in my opinion and it's great fun imo. I'm not a developer in any way, so it's completely unselfish from my part, only the more players are there, the better:).

It's free but there is a premium option that costs little and it's not necessary to play anyway.
