I'm new to DOSBox, but delighted to have found it, but I have had the same problem crop up in a few games - Lands of Lore, Menzoberranzan, Master of Magic and Machievlli the Merchant Prince are the ones that have been frustratng me recently.

I am running on Vista, using an ATI Radeon 3200 card. I have D-Box as a front end, which I love, but if that's the issue can lose. I have tried changing the config file to machine=vga but this hasn't worked for me either

Bear with me, this is hard to explain. The game loads, in some cases the opening screenshot works in others it doesn't. When the game starts however, I am faced with a blank screen and cursor. When I move the cursor (and this is a terrible description!) it's almost like I am "wiping" away the black and revealing the picture underneath, which is needless to say extremely irritating and makes the games unplayable. I have to move the cursor over the entire screen to show what is beneath and if I move to another screen do it all again.

Anyone know how I can correct this?

Try changing the output method.

Sorry, could you explain what that means to me and how I would start doing that? I've looked in the FAQ and couldn't find it. Thanks!

Thank you! That seems to have worked for Merchant Prince, I shall try it on the rest tomorrow.
😘
