Ok, got mechwarrior 1 off of abandonia. Unzipped it and it ran fine.

ONCE.

Now it keeps throwing some bull about needing the cd inserted for it to run despite not needing it before.

Ok, try mechwarrior 2, I've heard it's better. Can't run on windows try in dos. Follow one of the excellent guides to mounting the image and it's all cool. Try and run the install exe and hold on a sec what is going on here.

The MINST.exe is intstead _MINST.exe and trying to run it forces the "win" command in front of it, which is illegal according to dosbox.

I'm on bloody vista so I cannot run it that way, compatibility mode doesn't help, trying to run mechwarrior 2 natively on vista with the xp patch works fine but it cannot load any of the missions so i cannot DO anything.

Help appreciated ENORMOUSLY.

Ok, now settlers 2 isn't working, it used to run fine but now it complains that stub exec fails, dos4gw.exe no such file or directory. Still does this after a complete reinstall.

what the christ is going on?
