I need to use Fraps with a few games but have not been able to get it to record. Yes, I know about the built in record feature but I need raw footage. Is there somewhere here that shows how to set it up? Maybe something in the config file?

thx,

Clutch

Thx for replying but not what I am looking for. I read the README and intro and that info pertains to the in game recording feature (CTRL+ALT+F5). I need to use Fraps.

Anyone using Fraps out there?

Oh, and I am using Dfend as a front end if that makes any difference.

thx

I could be wrong but I think fraps only works with D3D games. If so you'll need to download gulikoza's build of DOSBox and set output=d3d for fraps to work with DOSBox.

the builtin record feature is superior to fraps

Well one could do a Mic in record stream in a seperate program during the recording within DOSBox... DOSBox doesn't use the sound devices' input for recording so a basic 1-buffer full duplex card can do this.

FRAPS will capture plain Dosbox 0.73 if you set Dosbox to OpenGL output.

I recommend capturing at 60fps if you are playing an action game. DOSBOX will run much smoother. You can later decimate the video framerate to 30fps with Virtualdub, AVISynth or whatever. I'm not entirely sure why this is but it is very reminiscent of vsync issues.

Using FRAPS is much faster than DOSBOX capture if you are capturing a DOS game with hefty requirements because FRAPS will use a separate CPU core.
