I recently got my hands on a dual PIII rambus monster in the shape of a Dell Precision 220 which I've decided to be my win98 gaming PC after all my Socket 462 mishaps.

So now I've decided to use a PCI sound card solution for legacy sound in DOS and I've come across this card

Plan to use it with a Roland SCB-55

I know there's some scattered info about this card on the board but can someone who's using/used this card tell me if it's a good choice and where to find the best drivers and software to get it going in pure DOS, please

This works well:
Vogons; Aureal Vortex 2 / TB Santa Cruz aka Videologic Sonic Fury unter DOS

Turtle beach also has a lot of things on their support site. Sadly they seem to be dropping many files since their recent site revamp.

That should get you going.

Yes, works great. The only drawback is that the header is placed so inconveniently, making it is difficult to add/remove a daughterboard without removing the entire Montego II card. But where else could they have put it on such a small card.

Note that what is shown in the picture is a Montego II, not the original Montego (=obsolete).

I've just tested a Turtle Beach Montego II PCI soundcard, with an attached Roland SCB-7 wavetable daughterboard. After installing the software for it (inside Windows 95), I restarted in MS-DOS mode, and then I saw the LH AU30DOS.COM Vortex DOS audio driver load, which takes about 23K of memory. I can run DOOM, and set the music to General Midi, and hear wavetable tunes.
