Hi all,

I've checked out the forums, but did not find a post about this.

When I alter the scaler parameter in dosbox.conf, it is applied to X-COM Apocalypse's opening credits and intro, but when I skip these with ESC, the menu screen and subsequent game revert to being rendered in their original resolution without filtration.

I am running DOSBox 0.73 in Windows XP. I have attached my dosbox.conf.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

sunkai.

Scalers by default don't apply to high resolutions. You need to use scaler=nameofscaler forced.

Can't remember what res XCOM was probly 640x480 and the intros probly 320x.

You were spot on, thank you. The "forced" flag applies the scaler to the higher resolution part of the game engine.

I find the 2x scalers slighty too big for my laptop monitor. Do you have any tips for forcing the game to display at a custom resolution in windowed mode (e.g. 1024x768)? I have tried setting the windowresolution parameter, but this does not seem to impact the rendering.

Thanks again.

I've cracked my windowresolution problem, and that is that I needed to change the output parameter from surface to overlay.

This enables hardware acceleration, and the features of DOSBox that are supported only in hardware.
