Hi,

I've just installed DOSbox on a Windows 7 machine to run STSPLUS. The program, including the graphics screen and audio (speaker - I didn't even know this machine _had_ a speaker any more! ;-) ), is running very well, with only one slight hitch:

The program is updating its internal database (on demand) from a ASCII list file. This ASCII file is over two MB in size. The program always took a while to parse this file, on other machines it was about five seconds.

Unter DOSbox, browsing takes about five minutes. This could be due to the fact that the ASCII file resides on a network share, mapped to a drive letter in Windows, mapped to another drive letter in DOSbox.

Is this a known problematic constellation? Is there something I could try to speed things up or should I go for an alternative (e.g. reducing file size, storing the list file locally) immidiatly without wasting time trying fixes?

Regs,

try increasing the cycles of dosbox with ctrl-f12

The network share shouldn't influence the reading from a single file, but it doesn't hurt to copy it locally.
Still I think increasing the cycles well help more
