I recently bought rayman gold off ebay, and the DOSbox version 0.72 works fine. I used these series of commands:

mount F F:/ -t cdrom
F:
cd rayman
install.bat

And it got me to the installation window. However, at that point, I am asked to install the game in either the A, B, or Z drives with a message on the bottom saying "not enough free space on this drive" and "0 MB" next to each of these requested drives.

I was told that A, B, and Z only existed on Windows 95, so i tried partitioning my C drive and naming the new drive B, but i still ended up with the same "0 MB" message next to the B drive.

Is there any way to fix this? Or does my using a laptop have anything to do with it?

To Dosbox, there's only a Z and a F drive the way you did things - you need to create a hard drive for the game to get installed to! Mount a folder as hard drive.

How should I do this? Do I need to associate the a virtual drive to my C: drive? And if I mount a folder, won't I be unable to access the F: drive, where the installation application is found?

Never mind my previous post, I was able to get a hard drive with space thanks to your tip.

Another problem is irking me now though: after i choose to install the game to my C: drive, it asks me to enter a path to install it to. Then no matter what i type, every time I press enter, I'm directed to a window with the message:

Open write error

C:/RAYMAN.BAT

FILE ERROR

Anything on this one?[/i]

If you are using DosBox on Vista in any directory other than your USER folder then you will not be able to write or change files in those directories unless you run DOSBOX as an administrator or you modify the permissions of the folder to give write access.

If your lazy then you can simply right-click on DosBox, go to properties, go to "compatibility" and choose "Run As Administrator".

From a security standpoint this is not a good idea so either modify the permissions on the folder or move your games to your user folder.

I have the same problem and mounted the A: drive to a folder, but instead of giving me the option to install it there, the option simply disappears and is left with 0 MB at B: and 0 MB and Z:. Can anyone help?

All right.

Z:\>mount c c:\Games
Z:\>mount a "C:\ Program Files\hardDrive" (That's the folder's name.)
Z:\>C:
C:\>CD RAYMAN
C:\RAYMAN>start.bat (To begin the installation.)

Everything goes fine, including the sound test, until this:

This from a "aquired" ISO and I used Daemon Tools to view the files and I moved them onto a folder.

Hiya,
I'm having the same problem I'm managing to mount the game and everything:

mount F F:\ -t cdrom
F:
cd rayman
install.bat

but as soon as I get to the installation bit it it has the same "not enough free space on this drive". I have tried "mount b c:\harddrive" however this doesn't help anything at all.

Thanks sm

mount c c:\harddrive
and assure that c:\harddrive is an empty, existing directory

Hi, I'm sorry for the topic kick but I have the same problem.

After I mounted an empty folder as A: drive, it just disappears from the list. I do have an original disk though.

This is what I do:
Dosbox:
mount a c:\rayman
mount c f:\
c:
install.bat

and then there I can only choose from B and Z, while before mounting the A drive, there was also the A drive to choose from.

My screen looks the same as the screenshot posted above by Eggstream. Exept that my disk is original.

As noted above the mount for C should be some directory (empty) that serves
as hard drive in dosbox, and the mount for D should be the cdrom that you're
using as installation medium.

How should I mount it as hard drive? I just mounted an empty folder to A: using dosbox, am I missing something?

My CD-ROM drive is called F, so that is where that letter comes from.

How should I mount it as hard drive?

mount c c:\my_cute_empty_directory

My CD-ROM drive is called F, so that is where that letter comes from.

cdrom->cdrom, thus
mount d f:\ -t cdrom
