Recently I tried to play Boom.

Unfornately the game speed is not constant. We played it with 4 players and when bombs were exploding the game got slower. When I tried to increase the speed of the DOSBox the characters started flickering more and more.
Whats the Problem here?
Don't explode bombs.

You can't.
does it happen only when you play 4 players? Or also when you play the game alone?
You cannot play it alone. If you play it with 3 players you also have the same problems. Also when loading the game it is slower than it was on the old PC without emulation.
Not sure if you want to do that... there ia an old DOSBox build on my homepage with video memory slowdown... it's icky when you know the recent versions...

You are aware that when you pick up certain question mark items it slows you down?

Haha... Thanks, but I disabled the Question Marks anyway. And also the explosion shouldn't be slower then.
I wonder that the loading process is much slower than it used to be on an old PC. So maybe it's a good idea to speed up the dosbox first and then start the game? I'll try next time.
However the fixed dosbox version solved the problem with the graphics.
how many cycles do you use?
i used the standard settings which seem to be 3000 cycles. I think it might be better if I first use 30000 cycles and then start the game.
10000 should be good
