So I picked up a 386 system last week, and I've been trying to find a good video card to replace the Trident 8900 that it came with.
I know the standard choice would be a Tseng ET4000, but those seem to be surprisingly few on eBay at the moment... at least, within what I'd consider a reasonable price range. I was looking at an ET4000-based Everex card, but it appears to be missing the BIOS chips, and I haven't heard back from the seller about it yet.
So what are some other decent options? I'd kinda like to have some form of GUI acceleration, if possible, though it's not absolutely necessary. My main focus is DOS speed. I know there's the Cirrus GD-542X, and the S3 801... anything else I should watch out for?
I do have a Paradise PVGA1A card laying around... how does that one fit into the speed hierarchy? I don't expect it to be great, but would it at least be better than the Trident?
