If the board you own is one of these 2, personally I think they are ok. One of the better Socket 7 boards. Ofcourse there are even better ones but I tend to like these.

That is the one and I like it too. Just be aware that it caches only 64MB. At least mine does.

Yes I know. It's a pitty though. I plan on using the 5598 boards I have for my P1-alike builds with just 64MB and either a Winchip, Cyrix or Rise (if I have the mP6 version that supports >2x multiplier) and 98SE 😉.

I know putting in a K6 mobile (or K6-3) will fix the cacheable area but hey, it's all about being retro and being retro isn't about always picking the fastest option! 😉

Well, mine came with a K6-2 500 MHz, and I basically exchanged it for a P1-233 MMX with free or limited multi. The onboard sound has decent FM and the ISA slot is a nice option. When using a Voodoo2, the onboard graphics will do OK too.
