This is a very obscure question but I'm hoping that someone has encountered the same problem and can help me. I've got an old game, The Raven Project, which I'm trying to install on a Dell laptop, Inspiron 8200, Win XP, Service Pack 3 with all updates, 2.19 GHz, 1 GB memory, integrated graphics. I'm running DOSBox 0.74.
I mount the cdrom in DOSBox, insert Disk 1, and type install. Fortunately, the installation screen appears, I select Complete install, but there's also a box requesting the "Installation Drive" for installing the game. There are only two characters that can be entered in this field, C:, which I enter. When clicking on Install, a message is returned stating "Invalid Directory Name." I go back to the main installation screen and I see C:\RAVEN, with \ Raven spilling outside of the box. I cannot type the "\RAVEN" in the field, only C:.
Has anyone else encountered this and how did you get around it? Thanks for any assistance you can provide.
