Quite interested in what differences others can hear.
You really need to use headphones though.

Good test. I would add DOSBox output to it, which should be without distortions. And maybe a high end ISA sound card (EWS64).
Yea I thought about DOSBox, however there are so many DOSBox videos on YouTube and anyone who is interested can load it and check it out for themselves.
I found very little "Old School" Sound Card comparisons apart from the usual Sound Blaster vs. Roland 😀
I am also afraid that once a video is upladed, you can't add content. You have to add a new one and remove the old one 🙁
Some general observations on the sound cards:
-The SoundBlaster Pro 2.0 has the heaviest filtering of the 4 sound cards.
-The AudioDrive sounds more muffled than the SoundBlasters.
-The AWE64 Gold has similar sound to the AudioDrive, but not as muffled.
-The SoundBlaster 1.5 has practically zero filtering.
-Both the SoundBlaster 1.5 and SoundBlaster Pro 2.0 sound like they have a lower sampling rate than the AudioDrive and AWE64 Gold. The speech seems slightly downsampled. It's not as noticeable as in X-Wing, though.

So what's your favorite? The AWE64 was mine!
It's split between the AudioDrive and AWE64 Gold for me. Can't decide yet; I'll get back to you on that.

Cool. The ESS was too muffled / dampened for me. I liked the SB P 2.0 as well. The sampling rate thing is interesting, I just can't hear that...
