That's not what some random know-all youtube commenter said!!!

Forget Win9x on the Wii. A 2GHz would be needed to cut that at least and no you're not going to play Half-Life on it either. Even on a PC, Win9x isn't even supported on DOSBox.

Just use Qemu or VirtualPC if you want to emulate Windows 98 so bad for some reason. If those aren't on Wii, then that's just too bad. Perhaps, it's for the better. Besides, there are lots of kids easily impressed by Win95 running on Bochs on a PSP at a rate of 16 seconds per frame anyway. It is a bragging novelty that has no practical use and will wear off quick as soon as you get to the screen of the desktop.

Windows 9x emulation is NOT supported on DOSBOx.

Due to this, I cannot help you. You're on your own and if you screw up, please use other virtualisers that will emulate Windows 9x.

Thanx. 😀

One of the reasons why this keeps coming up is that, while in the forums it is repeatedly pointed out that Windows 95 isn't supported in DOSBox, on the DOSBox website compatibility section, Windows 95 is shown as supported since DOSBox version 0.73:

Windows 95 - Microsoft (1995)
Tested By: kernel_geek
runnable - playable - supported
80% (supported)
DOSBox version: 0.73 (supported)

Perhaps then a little blurb to that effect, where it says:

"DOSBox does NOT host these games. This list is a compatibility list. If you are looking for games, you can visit www.classicdosgames.com or GOG.COM."

Could save some confusion.

huh? why would this save some confusion regarding this topic? Does anyone really believe Dosbox would host ANY of these games, let alone Windows 95?

Then do that, don't complain about random crashes and other corruptions.

I apologize for getting people upset. I love DOSBox and use it regularly. I'll try to word it differently:

People new to DOSBox come to the site and look at that list to see if their favorite game works in DOSBox. What they often see is the word 'supported'. They don't see any disclaimer that the poster is not acting in some official capacity. They see the word 'supported', which can be seen to imply an official claim. So if their game doesn't work for them , they'll maybe post on the forums, which is fine until it's the Windows 9x products they see as 'supported' in the list.

Maybe changing that notation from 'supported' to 'worked-for-me' or some such would do the trick.
