Omg these thermaltake fans.... I got a couple of them to try out. When I tested one to see if it still worked, I balanced it on a PC and plugged it in without screwing it down. It nearly took off, fell off the PC and snapped one of its rotors off. Arghh, was a new fan.... Learning by my mistake, I held on to the next one while I plugged it in. Nice breeze but ouch - that drew blood, nearly took the top off my finger.

And I used to stop fans with my fingers....

All of what you just said above: exactly the same thing happened to me. Fast large fans (eg 12cm case fans) if not screwed down to something are quite dangerous.

I wasn't a Sid Vicious fan, the Sex Pistols never really appealed to me.

🤣 why not just screw it down to something so that you don't have to risk suck catastrophic results?

Exactly, but anything heavy enough to hold it down would do in a pinch...
