I've Googled, searched this forum, but can't seem to find anything like what I'm experiencing.

I'm using DOSBOX latest build (although I've tried 0.62 and 0.72 also), 0.74, with my usual settings and then scaled back "no frills" settings, nothing helps.

The problems- well, Sorcerian loads fine. But in the first dungeon (haven't tried any others) the following can happen:
- Heroes randomly stop losing HP/MP
- With this last point, heroes lose ability to attack enemies and vice versa
- New rooms opened up via puzzles become a dead-end room with a 'wallpaper'-like tiled effect instead of whatever new room they were supposed to be

This makes the game, basically a dungeon explorer where you open up new areas to solve quests, unplayable. Which is unfortunate because it's a classic.

PC specs are Core 2 Duo, 2.93 GHz, 4 GB Ram, XP, running an nVidia GT240 512 MB.

Anyone got any ideas? I'm sure people have this game working under XP.

I would sure appreciate any help from the guys who have been assisting me for nearly a decade now 😀 Thanks for your time as always.

Regards,
- Alistair

Collector, thanks for checking this out. I appreciate it.

Resource.cfg:
GRAPHICS.EGA
MT32.DRV
NO
HARD DISK

Cycles and core, auto and auto.

Sorcerian version 1.4.

Dosbox.conf attached.
Savegames attached also - extract to "USER" folder. Load characters in-game, number '9'. Load scenario "The Stolen Scepter".
Load savegame via F7.
Try going through the door right there, and fighting the gnomes- works fine for a few seconds, but then the heroes stop doing damage and stop receiving it, on my end anyway.

Let me know how you get on! I have a sinking feeling you'll load it and have no issue.

Well you were right. No issue. I even tried to duplicate your setup. Switched to my MT-32, default dosbox.conf using your saves. My version is also 1.4. To eliminate as many variables as possible, try the new installer here:

http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/NewSier … .html#Sorcerian

If you still have the problem, it will be easier to work with as our installations will be identical. You may want to edit the RESOURCE.CFG back to the MT32.DRV from ADL.DRV (not many using my installers will have an MT-32).
